The Pennsylvania law requires school districts to provide transportation to resident students attending a charter school “on such dates and periods that the charter school is in regular session” if:
- The charter school is located within the school district, or
- The charter school is located not more than ten miles by the nearest public highway beyond the school district boundary,
Therefore, Vision Academy makes arrangements with the school districts of residence for the transportation of its students. Resident students are transported under the same condition as students attending public schools located along or near established district bus routes.
The Vision Academy Charter School contacts with the districts when students from those districts are enrolled to identify the appropriate and available choices and fully explain those options to parents of all students including special education students as well.
Vision Academy does not provide transportation for extended day programs or club times and Saturday Academy.
The Department of Education frequently receives questions pertaining to the transportation of school students. Please read Frequently Asked Questions.
